Warren County Fair organizers are pleased with the attendance and community support for the first two days of the event.

The Fair, which kicked off on Sunday, wraps up this Saturday, July 10, at the Warren County Fairgrounds located on North Highway 47 in Warrenton. The theme is “A Salute to America.”

Fair Board President Roger Owenby said he was pleased with the turnout for Sunday’s parade and later that evening for the queen coronation. A strong crowd also was reported on Tuesday evening when the motocross competition was held.

“The first night we had a fantastic crowd,” Owenby said. “Everything is going real well. The weather has been great. Everything is shaping up for us to have a real good Fair.”

Sunday’s parade featured a new route that was met with positive feedback, according to Owenby.

The route began at Black Hawk Middle School and finished at Warrenton High School. In past years the parade had been held on Main Street and had tied up traffic on Highway 47.

“Everyone seemed to like it,” Owenby said.

He noted that attendees should have a smoother exit when leaving the fairgrounds following lengthy delays on Sunday.

“The first night we had a lot of people here,” he said. “To get them out, we had a bottleneck. We addressed some thing to make it more efficient.”

Owenby pointed out that strong nightly entertainment remains over the final three days of the Fair.

On Thursday evening, the demolition derby begins at 7 p.m. A monster truck show will return on Friday night in the middle of two performances at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. by country music singer Jeff Sable, whose top hits included “Rainy Days at the Beach,” “Raised on the Radio,” “Drop of Rain,” and “Love Hasn’t Found ’em Yet.”

The truck and tractor pull is scheduled for Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Also on Thursday, the livestock buyers dinner will be held at 5:30 p.m., followed by the auction at 7 p.m. The wild cow milking contest is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. with the junior rodeo at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday’s activities will begin with a baby show at 10 a.m., followed by frog and turtle races at noon, a washer tournament and watermelon eating contest at 1 p.m., and a pedal tractor pull at 2 p.m.

The Missouri Mounted Shooters will perform from noon-5 p.m. with the finals of the chicken wing eating contest at 6:30 p.m. The greased pig contest starts at 7 p.m.

The beer garden features live bands nightly.

The daily admission fee is $12 on Thursday, $15 on Friday and $18 on Saturday. For children ages 4-12, the fee is $8 on Thursday, $10 on Friday and $12 on Saturday.

Thursday also is designated as Senior Citizens Day, with the admission fee $6 for those 55 and older. Season passes can still be purchased for $35.

For the second straight year, carnival rides are included with the paid admission. Carnival rides will be open from 5-10 p.m. on Thursday and from noon-5 p.m. and 6-11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
