This year’s Warren County Fair has gone without any major bumps along the way, although rain in the middle of the week hurt attendance, said Fair Association President Paul Owenby.“Tuesday and Saturday were the best nights,” he said. “We had close to 2,000 people come on (both days), and Friday wasn’t bad either, it was just a bit behind that.”Rain on Wednesday forced organizers to cancel a horse show, which Owenby said will be rescheduled for September, and significantly dampened the turnout for humorist Chad Prather.Prather had been invited to entertain an audience at the fairgrounds’ main stage, but was moved to the beer garden to avoid mud, Owenby explained.Owenby estimated gross receipts from admission fees for the week of the Fair were close to $90,000.Owenby said he’s satisfied with how the Fair went and doesn’t expect any big changes for next year.“All in all, I think it went pretty well,” he said.Emergency crews maintained a presence throughout the Fair. Firefighters were on standby and members of the Warren County Ambulance District watched over the first aid station inside the Lions Club building at the fairgrounds.Ambulance District Administrator Ralph Hellebusch said there were no serious injuries. He said people who visited the first aid station, in general, wanted relief from the heat, bug bites, scratched knees, blistered feet and similar types of injuries.
