Record Managing EditorThe completion of Wright City’s sewer study has been pushed back a second time.An extension was granted for the project, which is to be wrapped up Oct. 1. Kuhlmann Design Group, the project engineer, requested the two to 2 ½-month extension to review a draft of the study.Aldermen voted 4-0 to approved the amended contract at their June 25 meeting.In April, the firm was granted an extension from May 12 to June 26 because of inclement weather delaying field operations, officials said.As part of the sewer study, the city will receive a report outlining the existing conditions of the system, causes of problems and possible solutions within the trunk mains and wastewater treatment plant. The wastewater treatment facility will also be evaluated with possible solutions to be presented in operation and additional treatment processes to remove higher amounts of ammonia to meet new regulatory limits.Wright City received a $50,000 grant to help offset the $62,900 cost of the sewer study from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. The grant was awarded through DNR’s small community engineering assistance program, which is for cities, counties and sewer districts with a population under 10,000.In other news• An ordinance finalizing a contract between the city and MB Construction, LLC, was passed by a 4-0 vote. The city will spend $195,566 to replace 4- and 6-inch water mains with an 8-inch line along Westwoods Road from the North Service Road to the Twiehaus Addition. New water lines also will be installed on Clarence and Aster.• The public works department received approval to attend a 10-day drinking water treatment and distribution certification class to be held in New Haven in August and September. The cost is $525.A second training request, for the police department, also was approved. Police officer Chris Beard will attend a class on DWI blood draws and search warrants Aug. 19 at the Eastern Missouri Police Academy. The cost is $100.• A special permit was issued to Wright City Project Graduation to hold a 5K Fun Run on Aug. 29 beginning and ending at Diekroeger Park.• The board approved seven liquor license applications for 2015. The list of businesses were Abel’s Quik Shop, Midwest Petro No. 8, Mikey’s Pour House Pub and Grill, Ruiz Castillo Mexican Restaurant, Ball’s Q-Shack, San Jose Mexican Grocery LLC and Dollar General.• A vacation carryover request totaling six hours was approved for the accounts payable clerk.Wright City
