Former Wright City Police Officer Steven T. Tucker, 60, was killed July 8 in a motorcycle crash on Route J south of Bruning Lane near Troy.
Tucker was currently serving as a Lincoln County Sheriff's deputy.
According to the accident report filed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, his 2000 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide was struck by a 2008 Ford Focus driven by 25-year-old David J. Case of Troy. The report indicates Case's vehicle crossed the centerline, striking Tucker's motorcycle.
A post on the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department Facebook page indicated that Case was drunk.
Tucker was taken to Kemper Keim Funeral Home by the Lincoln County Coroner's office. Case suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken to SSM Health St. Joseph. According to the report, Case was not wearing his safety defice. The report indicates that Tucker was wearing a safety device.
The report also indicates that Case did not have insurance.
Tucker had also served as police chief in Berger. He was also an Army veteran.
A number of Warren County Facebook pages, including the sheriff's department, Wright City Fire Protection District, Warren County Emergency Communications Center, and Wright City Parks & Rec offered condolences to the officer on their page.
Wright City Mayor Michelle Heiliger also asked the city's residents and businesses to lower their flags to half-staff to honor Tucker.
“Deputy Steven Tucker embodied the spirit of service, honor, and selflessness, exemplifying the qualities expected of a law enforcement professional. His unwavering commitment to protecting and serving the community will forever be remembered by his colleagues and the citizens he served. Deputy Tucker’s loss is a significant blow to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, and he will be deeply missed by his fellow deputies, friends, and family,” a statement from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department read.
No funeral arrangements have been released. The crash remains under investigation.
