UPDATE POSTED 12:32 P.M. SEPT. 15: Osage County Judge Sonya Brandt will make a decision regarding whether to revoke Wendy (Nordwald) Kozma's probation at a hearing at 8:45 a.m. Oct. 6.
The probation of former Warren County Assessor Wendy (Nordwald) Kozma could be revoked during a hearing scheduled for 9 a.m. Sept. 15.
That hearing was set when Kozma appeared in person in a Warren County courtroom and asked for a continuance of “several weeks” so that she could find an attorney to represent her.
Her previous attorney, Timothy Hunsaker, was only contracted through the criminal proceedings. She told Judge Sonya Brandt, of Osage County, during the June 2 hearing that she had not found new counsel.
A document filed July 15 that shows Kozma is now represented by Timothy A. Lohmar, of O’Fallon.
Kozma was accused of embezzling from the Missouri State Assessors Association. She pleaded guilty in June 2022 to 15 felony charges of stealing. As part of her plea, she agreed to serve four months in prison and repay more than $213,000 in lieu of a 10-year prison sentence.
But in June of this year, Warren County Prosecuting Attorney Kelly King filed a motion to revoke Kozma’s probation for failing to pay restitution.
During a June 2 hearing at the Warren County Courthouse, King said Kozma had just recently made three restitution payments but had only paid $100 prior to those payments.
Kozma still owed more than $200,000 in restitution at the time of the hearing.
