Plans to build a sidewalk along the east side of Bell Road to improve pedestrian safety are moving forward. The Wright City Board of Aldermen last week voted to hire a Wentzville firm to prepare engineering plans for the project. Cochran Engineering will be paid $23,500 for its services. Plans call for construction of approximately 3,300 feet of 5-foot wide concrete sidewalk to be constructed. The sidewalk will extend from Freedom Lane to Wright City Middle School and from Westwoods Road to Lake Tucci Circle, according to a proposal prepared by Cochran Engineering. City officials hope the project will be completed prior to the start of the 2013-14 school year, according to Larry Janish, Wright City superintendent. “A lot of kids walk on that roadway,” Janish remarked. Janish said some easements will have to be acquired, but the exact amount remains to be determined.
