The Emmaus Homes Board of Directors has voted to sell its Marthasville campus. The decision was finalized after all the clients at the campus were transitioned to new homes in the area, Emmaus announced Tuesday in a press release. The historical campus, located east of Marthasville on Highway D, has served clients for nearly 125 years.Emmaus Homes is a private, faith-based, nonprofit organization that provides around the clock caretaking service to adults with developmental disabilities. Emmaus’ mission includes helping clients live as independently as possible in the community of their choice.“Emmaus has always been a leader in our industry by creating best practices for adults with developmental disabilities,” said the Rev. Levering Reynolds, chairman of the Emmaus Homes Board of Directors. “Our mission remains clear: to provide the highest quality services with a continued focus on our faith-based tradition. We are committed to preserving our mission for many generations to come.”Worship services previously held at the campus will be moved to a United Church of Christ location in the nearby area, the organization announced. The Emmaus Homes Board of Directors announced in 2015 that it would be closing the Marthasville campus by 2020. At the time, 77 adult clients lived at the facility, The Record previously reported. The decision to close the Marthasville campus came shortly after Emmaus also closed its St. Charles campus.Emmaus Homes said it currently serves more than 275 clients in St. Charles, Warren, Franklin, Lincoln and St. Louis counties.
