Emergency response training for teens and adults in June

Warren County Emergency Management Agency is holding its first Teen and Adult CERT training course June 21-23 at 101 Mockingbird Lane in Warrenton.The class times that weekend will be Friday 6-10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.The course will be facilitated through the Mid America Teen CERT program.CERT, or Community Emergency Response Team, training consists of eight units: Disaster Preparedness, Fire Suppression, Disaster Medical Operations 1 and 2, Search and Rescue Operations, Organization and Incident Command, Disaster Psychology, Special Needs Considerations, and Terrorism.The class culminates with a live simulation exercise.Any Scouts taking the course will also have the opportunity to earn seven merit badges. They are first aid, emergency preparedness, fire safety, safety, disabilities awareness, search and rescue, and wilderness survival. Girl Scouts and American Heritage Girls can also earn badge requirements.Members of HOSA (Future Health Professionals, formerly known as Health Occupations Students of America) will learn all of the required content to compete in the State and National Community Emergency Response Team Competitive Event.For more information or to sign up, contact EMA Director Michael Daniels before June 7 at 636-456-3786 or mdaniels@warrencountymo.org.
