By Tim Schmidt, Record Managing EditorOnce it was determined the home was unoccupied, fire officials allowed the home to burn.Crews from Warrenton, Wright City, Hawk Point and Lincoln County remained on the scene for at least four hours.Emergency responders resuscitated a dog Thursday night after its family's home caught on fire.The fire was reported at 8:44 p.m. at a single-story home on Log Cabin Drive, south of Wright City off South Stracks Church Road.Other than two family dogs, the home was unoccupied at the time of the blaze, Wright City Fire Chief Ron MacKnight said. The home sustained extensive damage, but an aggressive attack by firefighters helped save personal belongings and a lot of the structure, he added.Emergency responders pulled two dogs from the burning home. An animal resuscitation kit was used and it saved the life of one of the dogs."Saving the dog was pretty big," MacKnight said. "This was the first time we used it, and we were successful with it."The second dog did not survive, MacKnight said.Crews from Wright City, Warrenton and Marthasville responded to the fire.Emergency responders resuscitate dog during house fire
