The homeowner, identified as Jack Croom, was sitting in his living room when he noticed flames outside a window of his single-story, modular home. Croom was outside the residence when firefighters arrived. Warrenton Fire Chief Mike Owenby said the exact cause of the fire is unknown. He said the fire originated somewhere underneath the residence. Other fire departments that responded to the scene were Wright City, Jonesburg, Wentzville and Hawk Point.
