Five Wright City athletes were first-team selections on the Eastern Missouri Conference football team.
Wright City junior Duan McRoberts led the way with two first team selections. He was named to the first team as a running back and a returner. McRoberts, who was a unanimous selection as a running back, finished the season with 1,116 yards rushing and 12 rushing touchdowns. McRoberts also had 134 yards receiving and two receiving touchdowns. McRoberts was also a second team selection as a defensive back. McRoberts finished the season with a team-leading five interceptions.
Senior Carle’on Jones was named to the first team as a linebacker. Jones finished the season with 24 solo tackles and 61 total tackles. He had one sack. Jones was also named to the Eastern Missouri Conference second team as a wingback/flanker. He rushed for 257 yards and six touchdowns. He also had 204 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
Kayden Allison was a first team selection at wide receiver. He led Wright City with 315 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns. He was named to the second team as a defensive back.
Devin Myers and Mason Wendt also received first team all-conference honors. Wendt was named to the first team offensive line. Myers was a unanimous first team selection at defensive end. Myers led Wright City with 37 solo tackles and three sacks.
Denzel Dowdy and Hunter Bohannan were named to the second team on both offense and defense. Dowdy was named to the second team at running back and outside linebacker/strong safety. Dowdy rushed 471 yards and a team-leading 13 touchdowns this season. He also had 127 yards receiving and one receiving touchdown. On defense, Dowdy had 16 solo tackles, two interceptions and one fumble recovery. Bohannan was named to the second team offensive line and defensive line. On defense, Bohannan had 11 total tackles and one sack.
Quinn Schnarre was also named to the conference’s second team at linebacker. Schnarre finished the season with a team-leading 81 total tackles. He recovered three fumbles and had one sack.
Wright City finished the season with a 6-4 record, including a 5-2 record in the Eastern Missouri Conference. The Wildcats earned their most overall wins and conference wins in four years.
