Mr. Edmund Spurgeon Jarvis, Jr., of Wright City, passed away on Saturday, October 14, at his home. He was born on December 3, 1939, in St. Louis, to the late Edmund Spurgeon Sr and Rose Ellen (nee: Geoppo) Jarvis. Ed had reached the age of 83 years.
Ed worked in Law Enforcement for 38 years, served our country in the United States Army for two years and served in the Missouri National Guard for 18 years. He was united in marriage to Darlene Bertha Dietrich on September 2, 1961 in Imperial. They recently celebrated 62 wonderful years together. This union was blessed with two children, Martin and Edmund. Ed was a dedicated and devoted family man. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed every minute he shared with them. He was also very devoted to his church and church family at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter-in-law, Suki Jarvis. Surviving family members include his wife, Darlene Jarvis of Wright City; children, Martin Jarvis, Edmund Jarvis and wife Susan; two grandchildren, Rachael Haas and husband Brent, Daniel Jarvis; four great-grandchildren, Nolan Haas, Taylor Haas, Ty Haas, and Brock Haas; other relatives and many friends.
Ed's family will be hosting a Celebration of Life Visitation on Thursday, October 19, from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M., at Martin Funeral Home in Warrenton. They will then host a Memorial Mass on Thursday, October 26, at 10 A.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with a burial following at the church cemetery. Memorial donations are appreciated to the American Heart Association c/o Martin Funeral Home.
