Dyer appointed as Ward 1 alderman in Warrenton

Electoral candidate Cheryl Dyer was appointed early to the office of Warrenton Ward 1 alderman on Tuesday, March 5, following the resignation of sitting Alderman Greg Costello.Costello announced his resignation last month, explaining that travel would keep him away from the city throughout most of the rest of his term, which ends in April.Dyer is the only candidate running for the office of Ward 1 alderman in local elections this April 2. Mayor Eric Schleuter said because no other candidates are competing for the office, he felt it appropriate to appoint Dyer to the open position prior to her election. The remaining members of the board of aldermen agreed, voting 5-0 to install Dyer into office. Her name will still be listed on election ballots this April, at which time she will be officially elected to a two-year term of office.“I am excited to serve the city to the best of my ability. I hope I can bring some new thoughts. I’m just excited to be here,” Dyer said.
