A Warrenton man allegedly driving while intoxicated to Waffle House last September has been charged with habitual DWI, a class B felony.Steven E. Brown, 59, was charged last week with the felony, which could carry a penalty of at least five years in prison. A warrant for Brown’s arrest includes a $25,000 bond.According to a Warrenton police report, Brown was stopped by law enforcement around 10:30 p.m. Sept. 25, 2018, at the Fast Lane on North Highway 47. Brown reportedly told an officer he was driving to Waffle House for food and then going home.Brown admitted to drinking eight beers before driving, was unable to correctly perform any field sobriety tests, and consented to a breathalyzer test which showed alcohol in his system, police said.Authorities said Brown stated he has previously received more than 10 DUI charges. Missouri law defines a person as a habitual offender if they have been found guilty of five or more intoxication-related traffic offenses.A blood test conducted at the Warren County Jail reportedly showed Brown had a blood alcohol content of nearly 0.17 percent, over twice the legal driving limit.Brown also was charged with a felony from a February incident for driving without a valid license.Crime
