Two people caught driving a stolen vehicle through Warren County have been charged for drugs and weapons found in the vehicle.
Warren County sheriff’s deputies on Nov. 30 arrested Jess G. Murrell, 27, and Owen S. Buson, 28, both of Fulton. They are each charged with delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon. Murrell is also charged for tampering with a motor vehicle.
The two men were stopped in connection to the search for a vehicle stolen out of Boone County, according to a sheriff’s department arrest report.
Deputies had been notified that a stolen 2010 gray Nissan was likely traveling east along Interstate 70. Deputies located a matching vehicle at the Flying J gas station in Pendleton, and checked the vehicle’s identifying information to confirm it was stolen.
Deputies said Murrell was in the driver seat of the vehicle when it was stopped.
The sheriff’s department said a lunch box full of suspected methamphetamine, plastic baggies and a digital scale were all located in the back of the vehicle. The items are consistent with drug distribution, deputies said.
Deputies also located a 9 mm handgun and a rifle in the vehicle. It is an additional crime to possess a firearm while in possession of an illegal controlled substance.
The suspects are confined at the Warren County Jail. Their next court hearing is scheduled for Dec. 16 in Warren County Circuit Court.
