A driver was flown to the hospital with serious injuries after crashing while allegedly fleeing from police in the early morning hours of Thursday, Aug. 5.
Driver Shawn M. Mollet, 30, of Wentzville, was ejected from the vehicle in the crash which occurred at 1:45 a.m. on Highway 47 near Rock Church Road, according to a Missouri Highway Patrol crash report. The patrol alleges Mollet was fleeing from law enforcement when the 1998 Mercury Mountaineer he was driving traveled off the east side of the road.
The vehicle crashed through multiple fences and a field before returning to the road and becoming airborne, the highway patrol said. It then overturned multiple times, ejecting Mollet, who reportedly was not wearing a seat belt.
Mollet was flown by helicopter to Mercy Hospital St. Louis for treatment of his injuries.
The highway patrol did not specify which law enforcement agency was chasing Mollet, or why.
