Recent Wright City High School graduate Miley Sosa picked up the two biggest prizes at the Warren County Fair Queen Coronation Saturday night at Warrenton High School, winning not only the honor of representing the county as its queen, but also the award for Miss Congeniality.
“It is a very exciting moment,” Sosa said following being crowned queen. “I do want to thank my parents (Jose and Beth Sosa) because they really pushed me to be here.”
She said her parents and her family in Mexico have been very supportive and helped with everything relating to the pageant.
Sosa said she really didn’t expect to be named queen and said prior to the pageant that the reason she wanted to compete this year was to, “Grow my relationships with more people and to push myself to try new things because you never really know where they will take you. This experience is helping me to grow into the beautiful young woman I am becoming and this means a lot to me.”
Sosa said her entry into the pageant had her very nervous. She said that while she has been involved in several public speaking events with FFA, the pageant was a completely new experience. She later added that she had a lot of fun hanging out with the other contestants in the pageant.
This fall Sosa plans to attend State Technical College of Missouri where she will major in Missouri agricultural operations.
Being named queen meant that Sosa earned a $1,500 cash scholarship as well as a bevy of other goodies. The Miss Congeniality award garnered Sosa another $300 in cash and a gift basket. The congeniality award was the result of her fellow contestants voting for her for being kind, genuine, sincere and helpful during the entire contest.
Sosa was sponsored by Wright City Meat Company.
Other finalists included first runner-up Taylor Frye (Edwards Show Cattle and Hoof Trimming) second runner-up Emma Duncan Brooks & Young Real Estate) and third runner-up Hailey Patterson (Ultimate Hair & Spa).
