Those looking for a chance to support their local community are invited to come together with representatives of area charities next week in Wright City. The “100 People Who Care” group is meeting Sept. 13 at Diekgroeger Park inside the Heiliger Building at 6 p.m.The group brings donors together with local charities for one hour to make a big difference in a short time. Participants each pledge to give $100 and then vote for a local charity to receive the total donation for the evening.Wright City Mayor Dan Rowden, one of the organizers, said the group meets twice a year and is seeking more participants. Anyone is welcome to come Sept. 13 to observe or donate. If the group eventually reaches its goal of having 100 donors, it would raise $10,000 for a local charity at each hourlong gathering. The group is also seeking other 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in Warren County to present at the 100 People Who Care gathering. Representatives give a short overview of their services before donors vote on which organization to support. Only those groups that speak at the event are eligible to receive a donation.100 People Who Care has donated thousands of dollars to Warren County charities. Previous recipients include Strongtower Ranch, which provides summer programs for children in difficult life situations, as well as Wright City Food Pantry, and the Wright City Fire Corps, which provides volunteer support services to fire teams. Those wishing to receive more information about 100 People Who Care, or who wish to participate as the representative of a local charity, can contact Dan Rowden at 636-791-0208.
