Donations sought for crisis nursery, animal shelter

The Scenic Regional Library Warren County Branch is seeking donations for St. Louis Crisis Nursery and Pals Animal Shelter.St. Louis Crisis Nursery provides emergency intervention and support to families coping with abuse and neglect. The organization also helps families resolve crisis and access resources.St. Louis Crisis Nursery is always in need of immediate baby care items for babies under one year old. Also paper towels, toilet paper, twin crib sheets, cereal and snacks, cleaning supplies, batteries, sippy cups, toys, fruit juice, trash bags, dish soap, laundry detergent, plastic forks and spoons and arts and crafts projects.The library will accept items for this organization June 26-30 and again Aug. 14-18. Pals Animal Shelter takes in unwanted cats, kittens, dogs and puppies. Volunteers foster the animals to improve their chances of finding a permanent home and until they find a home.The organization needs volunteers, pet treats, collars, toys, low dust kitty litter, blankets, towels, kennels, soaps and detergent, 13- and 39-gallon trash bags, computer paper and more.The library will have collection boxes out for Pals Animal Shelter June 1-23 and July 7-11. The organization will hold an adoption day at the library during the collection period.The library is spending the summer collecting items for these organizations and others because they serve the community. The gesture is part of the library’s broad summer reading program.This year’s theme is Build a Better World. The library believes building a better world starts in communities.The program runs from June 4 to Sept. 8. During that time, six organizations will receive donations collected from the library. They are Operation Backpack, Turning Point, Pals Animal Shelter, St. Louis Crisis Nursery, Jordan’s Place and the Animal Welfare Association of Warren County (AWA).Jordan’s Place and the Animal Welfare Association of Warren County will have collection boxes at the library in July and August. A complete list of the organizations, donation dates and items needed is available on the library’s Facebook page and at the front desk at the library, 912 S. Highway 47 in Warrenton.The library is open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
