Deutsch Country Days set for October 15-16

The 35th annual German Living History festival Deutsch Country Days will be held Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15-16, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Luxenhaus Farm, located 2 1/2 miles northeast of Marthasville.The event will feature more than 80 juried artisans in traditional period costumes demonstrating 1700-1850s German Missouri folkways and life skills.Some demonstrations will include candle dipping, soap-making, weaving, woodworking, steam sawmill and sorghum pressing. Visitors can tour a pioneer 1840s log home, as well as 35 reconstructed log cabins.In addition to early American life will be the 1700s Osage Trail portraying early life of Osage Native Americans. Proceeds from the event will support historic, nonprofit and youth groups.
