Last month, Marthasville alderman voted to lower the Highway 47 speed limit to 45 mph from 55 mph following a recommendation from MoDOT. The new speed limit went into effect once the signs were switched. MoDOT preferred the drop based on the increased number of accidents and driveways along that stretch.
