The Marthasille Area Chamber of Commerce is offering the Tim and Jan Long Leadership Award.

The Tim and Jan Long award recognizes a deserving high school senior in the service area of Marthasville. The award is given in the spirit of the many men and women who were leaders in the Marthasville Community who helped Dr. Long establish his medical practice in Marthasville in 1981.

This scholarship provides a $2,500 one-time educational grant to a deserving student to further his or her education. This grant will be for educational expenses, tuition, books and fees. It is not renewable on an annual basis to the same student.

Students applying should be a leader in school and the community, have a record of serivce to his or her school and local/world community and have exceptional academic credentials.

Those eligible for the award are students residing within the following zip codes: Marthasville 63357, Augusta 63332, Defiance 63341 and Warrenton 63383. Also, the student shall be a full time student enrolled for college credit in any approved center of higher education, progressing for a BA, technical or associates degree. The student will demonstrate high academic standards and orientation to personal service exceeding in his or her community.

Applicant must send a completed application by April 15 to the Marthasville Area Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 95, Marthasville, Mo. 63357 and include a high school transcript, a one-page essay describing their leadership service to your community and their aspirations for the future, and two letters of recommendation by a high school counselor or members of the community.
