Record Managing EditorSummer school for students in the Warren County R-III District will run from Wednesday, May 27, through Tuesday, June 23.The 20-day session will be offered for incoming grades K-5 at Daniel Boone Elementary, with grades 6-8 and high school students meeting at Warrenton High School. Classes will start at 7:45 a.m. and end at 2:45 p.m.The current school year is set to end Friday, May 22.This year the district is contracting with Catapult Learning to plan and implement the summer school curriculum. Summer school was run by the district last year.Courses that will be offered for K-8 students will consist of reading and writing, math and exploratory learning activities.High school courses will be offered for physical education and in other subjects for credit recovery.Transportation will be provided with modified stops.The R-III school board voted in favor of the summer school proposal at its March 12 meeting.In other news• Also at the March meeting, the district will be spending $121,379 to purchase two new buses for the 2015-2016 school year. The purchase price includes $16,500 for two buses that will be traded in. The buses that the district is buying will hold 34 and 77 passengers.The winning bid was awarded to Midwest Transit, the lowest of three received.• A contract between the district and Missouri School Boards’ Association was approved beginning March 1, 2015, and ending Feb. 29, 2016. As part of the agreement, MSBA will provide maintenance to the district’s policy and procedure manual. The district’s cost is $3,437.Dates set for summer school in R-III district
