When did you join both FBLA and SADD, and why?

“I joined FBLA this year and SADD two years ago. I wanted to get more in the community and SADD is mostly community work and helping out. For FBLA, I wanted to do more data science and that allows me to do more research for my future.”

What community work have you done through SADD?

“I help out with blood drives and mostly set those up and I just helped out with powderpuff football.”

How has it been organizing events for your community?

“It’s fun seeing a bunch of people come together and help on a project to raise money for a good cause. I’ve learned how to work with other people too.”

What interests you about data science?

“I really love math. I’ve been doing math my whole life and I’ve always excelled at it, so I thought it was perfect for me to go into. There’s a lot of mathematics that goes into it and I’ll have to learn a lot about AI and all the statistics that come with it.”

Is this something that you’ve always been passionate about?

“I started more on the scientific side. I really love science and then found out I was really good at math. I like dealing with numbers so I basically combined them together to be a data scientist.”

How has FBLA allowed you to dive deeper into that subject?

“I started my research and I’ve been doing a lot of studying. I should be taking a test in December to see where I’m at.”

What’s the most interesting thing you’ve learned so far?

“It’d have to be the math side of it. It doesn’t have a lot to do with what I’ve already learned, like algebra and college algebra, it’s a different pathway and more about computers and AI learning.”

What do you want to do with your future?

“I want to do data science which mostly works with statistics and different companies.”

What are your plans after high school?

“I plan to play football in college and learn data science.”
