Over a thousand times since beginning her education, Sidnee Brumagin has made the commute from her home in Montgomery City to Warren County for class.A senior at Liberty Christian Academy, she has always attended private school, initially going to Warrenton Christian School, before it relocated to Wright City with a name change.Coming from a large family, she often sees her cousins in the hallways at school and has learned to appreciate the small setting.“It’s really cool to go to school with my family,” said Brumagin. “It keeps us close.”She says the class she has most enjoyed was personal finance, and this year she is enjoying the challenge presented by her government and speech classes.Outside of school, Brumagin likes both bow and rifle hunting during deer and turkey season. She also cherishes time spent with her family, which includes a sister in eighth grade. While she isn’t completely certain of her future plans, Brumagin says she would like to attend college — perhaps community college first — and has an interest in studying a field related to animals.Q: What do you enjoy most about attending Liberty Christian?“I like that we have more of a tight-knit community within out school, because we’re so small. We get to know each other better. When you have smaller closes we have more one-on-one with the teacher, and I think it’s easier to learn.”Q: What are your emotions about senior year?“It’s kind of bittersweet, because you’re moving on from things you’re familiar with, but I’m also excited to get out and experience new things. I think college will be a little more fun than high school.”Q: What is your favorite memory from Liberty Christian?“I think it’s cool that we’ve been able to make this school last for as long as it has, because we’ve had a lot of struggles keeping it open. A lot of the kids keep coming every year.”Q: Who was one of your most impactful teachers?“Miss Bart taught our science classes last year. She was one of the teachers I was closest to. She was super easy to talk to and related well to students.”Q: What has been something challenging that you’ve overcome?“My dad had two liver transplants when I was in elementary school. He was pretty sick and we didn’t think he was going to make it. I taught me to have faith in God and that he will be there for you.”Q: Who has had the greatest influence on you?“Probably my parents. They push me to be the best I can be and always encourage me to excel in school and everything I do. They’re just a good influence on my life.”Q: If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?“I really want to go to Hawaii or Alaska. I think they both look like really beautiful places and are very unique compared to other places near here. I think it would be cool to see the differences.”Favorite Food: “Pizza.”Favorite Restaurant: “Culvers.”Favorite TV Show: “Crime Shows.”Favorite Movie: “Red Dawn.”Favorite Song: “Country songs.”Favorite Musician: “Thomas Rhett.”Sidnee Brumagin
