In each of the past two years, Sean Pfuhl has immersed himself a little bit more into the experiences offered by Wright City High School.Entering his junior year, he is eager to take advantage of even more opportunities to expand his knowledge, creativity and leadership skills.Pfuhl is currently involved in both jazz band and marching band. He is in his third year of cross country and is considering playing golf next spring. He has spent much of his summer working on music theory and playing multiple instruments in preparation of joining the band leadership team in the future. He has spent much time devoted to his commitments, even cutting 19 minutes off his original time from his first cross country meet to the end of the 2015 season.Pfuhl is passionate about the arts and describes himself as eccentric and creative. During his freshman year he was asked to design a mural in the school hallway. At the conclusion of the year he received an award for Outstanding Performance in Art. Pfuhl says he plans to use the next two years to gain a clearer vision of his future and plan his journey toward attending college.Q: How did you become passionate about art?“I love to create, and even if I don’t end up utilizing this particular characteristic, art is something I’ll carry with me the rest of my life. In my opinion, art is about the creation process, not the ending product.”Q: How did you get involved in band?“When I decided to help the band move equipment my freshman year, I was offered to play a part on the second keyboard alongside Liz Pohl… When I stepped onto the field at Mizzou for our final competition, I knew this is something I wanted to take part in. Since I’ve decided to join, I’ve been able to grow as a musician, as well as a student. The way I see it, enrolling in band was one of the best decisions I ever made.”Q: Which teacher has had a profound impact on you?“Mr. Andrew Schwartz. I sat with him for hours on end before and after school, and because of him, I was able to overcome my academic obstacles and end my year with ah higher GPA.”Q: What do you enjoy most about attending Wright City High School?“I’ve built a life here and could’t ask for a more incredible group of people to experience all this with, whether it be the students or the teachers.”Q: Who has had the greatest influence on your life?“I’ve made many fantastic friends here, but none has had a greater influence on my life than Bear Lauber, who is currently making me proud as he performs in Mizzou’s drum line. Bear has been like a brother to me, and if it weren’t for him and his family I would have never picked up a set of drum sticks and started working my toward a college drum line.”Q: What has been your favorite class?“The class I’m going to miss the most is marketing class with Kayla Calvin. Marketing helped me combine my love of writing as well as my passion of artistry and allowed me to utilize them in order to become a better public speaker.”Q: If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?“I would go to Europe, because it’s a rich continent full of culture and history.”Q: If you could meet one person from history, who would you choose?“I would’ve really loved to meet the late great comedian Rodney Dangerfield. If I was just having a rough day or feeling depressed, I would listen to his material. His comedy always kept my spirits up and my laughter constant.”Favorite TV Show: “Futurama.”Favorite Song: “Anything but country music.”Favorite Band: “Chon.”Sean Pfuhl
