Dare to Excel: Logan Hart

Halfway through his freshman year of high school, Logan Hart made a move that few teenagers experience in their young lives. After attending public school for the first nine-and-a-half years of his education, he enrolled at a private school. But Hart’s move to Liberty Christian Academy has been more than a transition. It’s been a transformation. When he arrived at Liberty Christian, Hart was experiencing one of the most difficult phases of his life, struggling with self-esteem and direction. But the supports and lessons the incoming senior has learned over the past two-and-a-half years have helped him find his identity and regain a sense of focus and commitment. Hart immediately began playing sports at Liberty Christian upon his arrival during second semester of his freshman year. He was part of a baseball team that won state and went on to finish third the following two years.Hart has also been a pivotal contributor the Eagles’ basketball team that has placed second in state the past three years. He began his journey on the hardwood at Liberty Christian under the man that helped him regain his confidence, longtime Coach Butch Clark. He will finish it under the man he most admires in his life, his father and second-year Coach Kenny Hart.Logan says he is hoping to earn a basketball scholarship and pursue a career as an athletic director. He is looking at obtaining a Bachelors Degree in Education and Masters in Sports Management but is undecided on his college choice.Q: Who is a teacher or coach who made a profound impact on you?“I would say Butch Clark, because when I first got to LCA, he demanded respect but was also a caring and loving person, so he always had your back. Coming from Warrenton I didn’t have a lot of confidence, and he instilled confidence in me, and I’ll forever be grateful for that.”Q: What is your favorite class?“Probably Spanish, because my Spanish teacher is really funny and presents the lessons in a way I find humorous.”Q: What was the best part about your move to LCA?“I think the biggest thing was that it’s a family feel. Everyone knows each other and looks out for each other. It’s a family atmosphere.”Q: What has it been like being a part of state championship teams?“It was really gratifying. It was cool to go from not being a huge player to having a role in that season right away. The next year my role increased and I had to work on that. This year I was really relied on. It was pretty cool to see how I grew from year to year.”Q: Who overall has had greatest influence in your life?“My parents. My dad, watching him be a man, that’s how I want to grow up and take care of my family with a positive attitude and attack every day. My mom is a little more reserved. Her neatness and organization is something I want to be able to bring to my family.”Q: What is it like having your dad as your coach?“It has its benefits and disadvantages. He holds me to a higher standard than everyone else. I know he has my best interest in mind. Plus, I get to be around him more than just at home. I get to see how he coaches people and learn from that. And the offense he runs is pretty awesome.”Q: If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?“I really want to go to Oregon one day and visit Eugene. Australia would be the second place I want to travel. It would be cool to have a safari and listen to some dude with a sick Australian accent.”Q: What are your favorite sports memories?“My favorite memories from baseball are that I hit the first home run in LCA history and winning state my freshman year. In basketball it would be getting named All-State last year.”Q: What do you want your legacy to be?“I want to be known as the guy who was always happy and fun to be around and loved God.”Favorite Food: “Buffalo Chicken Tacos.”Favorite Restaurant: “Taco Bell or Olive Garden.”Favorite TV Show: “The Office.”Favorite Movie: “Dumb and Dumber.”Favorite Song: “I Spy.”Favorite Musician: “Chance the Rapper.”Logan Hart
