Local undergraduate and technical school students are reminded that Cuivre River Electric Cooperative’s 2017 scholarship application deadline is Monday, May 1. Applications are available at Cuivre River offices in Troy and Lake Saint Louis, or can be downloaded from www.cuivre.com.The application coversheet contains specific details about the complete scholarship application and selection processes.For 2017, trustees have transitioned to an annual scholarship award for all applicants, rather than twice a year as conducted in the past. Graduating high school seniors and undergraduate students continuing their education should submit their applications before the May 1 deadline.Scholarships are awarded by the Cuivre River Electric Community Trust Board, which has overseen Cuivre’s nonprofit community trust since it was formed in 1997. Education is a key component of the program.A total of $980,000 has been awarded to help 2,025 area students pursue their academic goals of achieving higher education.Funds are donated by Cuivre River members who donate to the community trust through Operation Round Up.
