Doug Tracy has been chosen as the next general manager/CEO of Cuivre River Electric Cooperative. He is the seventh person to lead the cooperative since its inception in 1941. He succeeds Dan L. Brown, who retired May 22 after 46 years, including the past 26 years leading the organization.Tracy has been with Cuivre River Electric for nearly 14 years as the manager of administration and information technology. In that role, he has been responsible for a broad range of duties, including overseeing subsidiary businesses, managing the IT Department, interpreting and negotiating union contracts, various Human Resources functions, budgeting, maintaining company policies and other special projects.Tracy said he is excited to embark on the next chapter of his professional career.“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead such an exceptional cooperative as Cuivre River,” Tracy said. “I look forward to working with our members, our board of directors, and our outstanding employees to continue the standards of excellence that define the organization.”Tracy was chosen from a nationwide pool of 50 candidates. His selection was finalized by the Cuivre River Electric Board of Directors in March after applicants were narrowed to eight finalists.“We had a lot of great candidates from across the nation and we were glad to choose our next general manager and CEO from the Cuivre River family,” said Walter Gregory, Cuivre River Electric board president.“We are confident in Doug’s abilities to provide great leadership to our members and our staff. We know he will work hard to continue our mission to keep our rates affordable and provide reliable service to our members.”Prior to joining Cuivre River Electric, Tracy was a senior member services representative in the business and information solutions division at National Information Solutions Cooperative, Lake Saint Louis, and director of office services and accounting for Illinois Valley Electric Cooperative, Princeton, Ill.A native of Fairfield, Ill., Tracy has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Harding University in Searcy, Ark. and a Master Of Business Administration from Lindenwood University.Priorities for Tracy include keeping electric service affordable and reliable as well as utilizing new technologies available to enhance service to the membership.“I very much appreciate the legacy that Dan has left and the success Cuivre River has enjoyed under his leadership,” Tracy said. “I look forward to continuing that success as we look toward the future and the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.”Cuivre River Electric Cooperative is the largest member-owned electric distribution cooperative in Missouri.It provides service to more than 63,500 residential, business, commercial, industrial and agricultural members in Lincoln, Pike, St. Charles and Warren counties.Doug TracyLyle Whitworth Photography
