Cuivre River Electric Cooperative members elected four directors at its annual meeting Friday, Aug. 11, at the Family Arena in St. Charles. Nearly 2,200 people attended the event.The directors were elected to three-year terms in their respective districts. Troy Galloway, Elsberry, was re-elected to serve in Lincoln County District 1. Charles Ellis, Silex, was also a contender on the ballot.Denise O’Mara, St. Peters, was re-elected to serve in St. Charles County District 4. Kay Grabanski, St. Charles, and Anthony Brunsvold, St. Peters, also competed for the seat.Ted House, St. Charles, was successful in his bid to serve another term in St. Charles County District 5. Don Bohr, St. Charles, William J. Briner, Weldon Spring, Sean Patrick McManus, Weldon Spring, and Doug Steinmeyer, St. Charles, also bid for the seat.Phil Dunk, Wright City, was newly elected to serve in Warren County District 3. Also vying for the opportunity was Hans Rodgers, Lake Sherwood.In addition, members passed three bylaw amendments.Dan L. Brown, who retired earlier this year as general manager and CEO, was honored for his 46 years of service, including 26 spent leading the cooperative. He was presented resolutions from State Sen. Bob Onder, State Rep. Phil Christofanelli and Cuivre River Board President Walter Gregory.Butch Wax and the Hollywoods entertained members attending the event. Elsie and Ed Seyffert, Troy, won the top prize of free electricity for one year ($1,500 bill credit). Linda Findall, Moscow Mills, and Ed and Barbara Elliott, St. Charles, took home prizes of a $500 bill credit. Evelyn Boyher, Wentzville, and Anthony and Karen Brunsvold, St. Peters, won prizes of $250 bill credits. Certificates from other retailers plus individual months of free electricity were also awarded.Cuivre River is the largest electric cooperative in Missouri, providing dependable electric service to over 63,000 homes and businesses.Currently 59 percent of Cuivre River members live in St. Charles County, 24 percent in Lincoln County, 15 percent in Warren County, and 2 percent in Pike County.
