The driver of a vehicle that crashed on Highway TT in April, injuring three passengers, has been charged with DWI leading to serious physical injury, and first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.Dawn M. Houska, 32, Wentzville, was charged Dec. 26 for the crash which happened April 7, 2017. A warrant for her arrest carries a $10,000 bond.The Nissan Murano driven by Houska was northbound in Dutzow when it traveled off the road, striking a culvert and overturning, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.Passenger Daniel Canaday, 31, Wentzville, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, sustaining serious head injuries, the patrol stated.Another passenger, Joshua Kloppenberg, 31, Lake Saint Louis, also was not wearing a seat belt and had moderate injuries, according to the patrol.Houska and a third passenger, Andrea Winchell, 32, Wentzville, had minor injuries. They both were wearing seat belts.The vehicle’s fifth occupant, a 3-month-old child, was not hurt in the crash.After being taken to Mercy Hospital Washington, Houska was detained by the highway patrol on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, and provided a blood sample. Her blood alcohol level was 0.19 percent, more than twice the legal limit, according to the patrol.The charges against Houska are Class D felonies, punishable by a fine or prison sentence if she is convicted.DWI
