The Warren County Commission announced this week that the county is currently undergoing a routine audit by the State Auditor's Office.
This is a statutory audit and is the type that are routinely performed by the State Auditor's office for certain counties, according to the commission.
"Third class counties, of which Warren County is one, do not elect their own auditor as do larger counties," said Presiding Commissioner Joe Gildehaus. "(They) are therefore periodically subject to audits by the state."
Commissioners said that the current audit is routine and that the results will be made public as soon as the audit is completed.
Commissioner Gildehaus added that even though Warren County does not have its own dedicated auditor, it periodically has outside firms perform audits on a contractual basis, and will likely follow up the state audit with an independent audit.
Statutory audits of counties by the state auditor are performed at no cost to the county.
