The first day to file a declaration of candidacy for an office in the Warren County government is Tuesday, Feb. 27.Candidates can file at the Warren County Clerk’s Office, 101 Mockingbird Lane, Suite 302, Warrenton. Filing closes March 27.Primary elections for county offices will take place in August and general elections are in November — not to be confused with the municipal elections this April.Offices up for election this year include associate circuit judge (Division 1 and Division 2), presiding commissioner of the county commission, county clerk, clerk of the circuit court, recorder of deeds, county treasurer, prosecuting attorney, collector of revenue, and township or ward committee representatives.Everyone filing for a county office must bring identification and will pay a $50 filing fee, which goes to the county committee of the political party for which the candidate files. There is no filing fee for the township or ward committee positions.At the time of filing, county office candidates must have completed an affidavit of tax payments, which is available now at the county clerk’s office.Candidates filing for county treasurer and county collector must also provide a signed affidavit from an authorized surety company indicating that the candidate meets statutory bond requirements.Questions should be directed to the county clerk’s office by calling 636-456-3331.Warren County Administration Building
