Country Grounds Brings Coffee to Marthasville

Posted

Coffee cravings are being satisfied in Marthasville with the opening of Country Grounds Coffee Company on March 26. Located in the heart of downtown Marthasville at 201 Depot Street, Country Grounds has already received a big welcome from the community.

Country Grounds was the dream of partners Aspen Draeger and Justin Galvin. Also involved in the family venture is Galvin’s sister, Olivia Galvin.

“I’m Italian,” said Draeger. “I’ve always wanted to have a coffee shop. We saw the post on Facebook about the available spot, checked it out, and decided in one day that we were ready to start the family business we’ve always wanted.”

Draeger said she has been a barista since she was a kid, fixing espresso for her dad, so she did not need any additional training to enter the coffee side of the business.

“It doesn’t feel like I’m going to work,” said Draeger. “I had a lot of fear. I knew there was a need, but we are young and we just didn’t know what to expect. We like the small-town community and everyone has been very supportive.”

Draeger and Galvin moved to Warren County in the last four years and have made it their home. Galvin, a plumber by trade, also built the rustic bar and counter. Draeger and Olivia Galvin put on the finishing touches using a comfortable and cozy décor for customers who want to hang out for a bit. There is also front porch and back patio seating.

“We moved here to get away from the chaos,” said Galvin. “We were thinking of having a coffee trailer at first, then decided to open in Marthasville to create some momentum and get a read on the community.”

Olivia Galvin said the community support has been overwhelming.

“We already have regulars and start working on their order when we see them pull up,” she said. “Some seem to be dedicated to trying every signature coffee on the list. We can’t believe how supportive they are, not even complaining about the wait.”

Signature drinks include the Nutella latte, Pistachio latte, Banana Bread, Smores, Cinnamon Rolls, Butterbeer, Sweet & Salty, Lavender Bliss and Golden Glow, to name a few.

In addition to coffee, they also serve muffins, bagels and breakfast sandwiches. Breakfast quiche will be available soon. Container ice cream from the Ice Cream Factory in Lebanon, MO will be added this summer.

Draeger is also working on a lunch menu which will include paninis and grab-and-go lunch sandwiches. The signature sandwich will be the Country Grounds breakfast sandwich — eggs, gouda cheese and bacon on cinnamon brioche bread, topped off by maple drizzle.

Galvin said the coffee trailer will still be part of the business plan. He is currently putting it together and hopes to be able to join community events with the Coffee Grounds coffee truck by the end of the summer.

Currently Country Grounds Coffee Company can be found on Facebook. Their website will be available soon. It is closed Monday and Tuesday and open Wednesday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday hours are 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
