Candidate filing opened this week for countywide elected offices. Filing will remain open to new candidates for offices in the county government until March 31.
On the first day of filing, four people registered to run for two of the county’s top offices, seats on the Warren County Commission.
Jerry “Junior” Myers and Matt E. Flake, both of Warrenton, are the first two competitors for the seat of northern district commissioner.
Tony Gagliano, of Warrenton, and Dave Mikus, of Wright City, will be on the ballot for southern district commissioner.
Both of the incumbents in those seats, Hubie Kluesner and Dan Hampson, have announced they will not run again.
Other offices up for election are the county’s sheriff, assessor, public administrator, coroner and surveyor. Incumbents for every office except surveyor filed for reelection on the first day. They are Sheriff Kevin Harrison, Assessor Wendy Nordwald, Public Administrator Melissa Dempsey, and Coroner Mark O’Neill.
Those wishing to file for office must do so at the Warren County Clerk’s Office, 101 Mockingbird Lane in Warrenton. Candidates must pay a filing fee and complete an affidavit.
