The city of Truesdale announced on Facebook Feb. 16 that Alderman Justin Naranjo, 38, had passed away the day prior, and expressed its sincere condolences to Naranjo’s family.

“Alderman Naranjo will fondly be remembered for his efforts to improve the lives of all residents, making sure the city was fiscally responsible, and asking tough questions of those wanting to conduct business with the city,” announced the city in the Facebook post.

Truesdale Mayor Jerry Cannon further expressed his sadness at the loss, saying while Naranjo had some recent health struggles, he was a meticulous and hardworking elected official and an even better man.

“As an alderman, it will be tough to replace him, and as a man it will be even tougher,” said Cannon. “And as a friend, I don’t even know how to replace him.”

Other city officials in the county extended their condolences and support as well.

The city of Warrenton released a statement on Facebook Feb. 16.

“We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Alderman Justin Naranjo from the city of Truesdale,” said the city in a Facebook post. “Over the past two years, Alderman Naranjo dedicated himself to serving his community with integrity and a strong sense of responsibility. His efforts to improve the lives of residents and hold businesses to high standards will be remembered by all who had the privilege of working with him.”

Officials in Wright City also extended their thoughts on Naranjo’s passing with Mayor Michelle Heiliger saying Wright City is standing with Truesdale in this difficult time.

“Days like these reinforce why our small, tight communities are important. Please include Justin’s family in your prayers today,” said Heiliger on Facebook.

Naranjo is survived by his wife, Jessica, and his four children, Bailey, Zoey, Ryder and Lucas.

Jessica is a performance fitness coach at the K4 Fitness Gym in Warrenton and owner Jeremiah Koch announced on Facebook on Feb. 16 that the gym was accepting donations for the family for any who were interested.

Naranjo  will be memorialized Feb. 20 with a celebration of life service followed by his burial in Warrenton.

Memorial donations can be sent to the family at the Martin Funeral Home on 510 E. Main Street in Warrenton and online condolences can be given at martinfuneral.net.
