Coleman gets 12 years for trafficking

An Eastern Missouri man was ordered to serve 12 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections in connection to one of the largest-ever drug busts in Warren County.Samuel H. Coleman, 35, Pleasant Valley, Mo., pleaded guilty Jan. 10 to first-degree drug trafficking. He was sentenced by Judge Wesley Clay Dalton.In April 2015, authorities seized 5 pounds of methamphetamine with a street value of about $272,000 in the parking lot of the Warrenton Walmart.The Warren County Sheriff’s office called it one of the largest drug busts ever in Warren County.Coleman’s accomplice, Cori J. McGinnis, Warrensburg, who was a passenger in the car, is serving 10 years at Chillicothe Correctional Center. Her sentence began June 7. According to the probable cause statement, McGinnis told police she was being paid $300 for her involvement.The arrest was part of an ongoing investigation by the East Central Drug Task Force and its member agencies. Investigators were conducting surveillance near Walmart because they had received information that a drug courier would be stopping there for a delivery.Officers initiated contact with Coleman and McGinnis. The Warren County Sheriff’s Department’s K-9 team, consisting of Deputy Ed McCormick and dog Bronto, located five bags containing methamphetamine hidden in a speaker box in the rear of Coleman’s vehicle. Each of the bags weighed about a pound, police had said.
