A formal ethics complaint has been filed against Marthasville Mayor David Lange and two aldermen.Mayor Lange confirmed at a special board of aldermen meeting March 30 that City Clerk Carla Heggemann filed a complaint with the Missouri Ethics Commission against himself, Alderman Nick Lange and Alderman Dan Grafrath.Heggemann declined to comment on the nature of the complaint, citing the ongoing investigation of the complaint. Mayor Lange, Aldermen Lange and Grafrath also declined comment. The mayor made the announcement during a request to hire special counsel to represent the three officials.“Normally, in a situation like this, when a complaint has been filed against public officials, the city attorney would represent the public officials,” Lange said in a prepared statement.“Being as the city attorney, Jamis Kresyman, is being used as a witness in clerk Heggemann’s complaint, and this creates a conflict of interest on her part, Alderman Lange, Alderman Grafrath and myself have declined her representation.”The board unanimously voted to hire Washington attorney Mark Piontek. Financial terms of the deal were not discussed.Carla Heggemann
