Claiborne races to first at Forest Park

Warrenton’s Wyatt Claiborne has gotten his sophomore campaign off to a rousing start.

Claiborne raced to a win in the white division of the Forest Park Invitational held Saturday. He completed the race in 17 minutes, 25.90 seconds. Althoff Catholic senior Jack Hiller followed in second in 17:30.50. Nate Maples of St. Charles was third in 17:38.40.

Claiborne was one of three medalists for the Warriors. In the girls race, junior Madelyn Marschel placed 18th in 22:39.10, while sophomore Camryn Petersmeyer followed in 30th in 23:35.70.

Others competing for the girls were Bayley Pelker (59th, 25:49.20), Briana Grooms (72nd, 27:22.80), Dacey Woodruff (77th, 27:57.30) and Emma Brengle (84th, 28:49.30).
In the team standings, the Warrenton boys and girls teams each placed 10th.

Also running for Warrenton were Coalton Hill (48th, 20:28.80), Mark Thomas Diller (69th, 21:38.20), Noah Cline, 89th, 22:46.80), Jacob Beckemeyer (92nd, 22:51.40), Zachariah Bristol (97th, 22:59.10) and Thomas Hale (98th, 23:00.60).
