Record Managing EditorWarrenton will be implementing a new retirement plan designed to retain and recruit city employees.The city will switch to the Missouri Local Government Employees Retirement System, or better known as LAGERS.In March, the city announced that it planned to change retirement plans. It was required to give public notification for 45 days.All five aldermen in attendance at their last meeting June 2 voted in support of an ordinance adopting the new plan. Ward 2 Alderman Damion Frederick was absent.The city’s participation in the LAGERS program will start Aug. 1.The additional cost to the city is expected to be $32,350, which includes expenses to cover 100 percent of an employee’s service prior to the city participating in the LAGERS program.City employees who work at least 1,500 hours annually will be required to pay 4 percent of their gross salary and wages as their retirement contribution.The minimum retirement age is 60 years for general city employees and 55 years for police officers.In other news• The board approved $17,011.56 in funding requests from the tourism budget, with the majority of the money to cover a portion of the salary for the event coordinator. Of the approved amount, $16,711.56 was requested by the city for the salary reimbursement. The remaining $300 will be used to purchase reusable shopping bags on the Farmers Market Customer Appreciation Day scheduled for July 21.• A cleaning contract with Crystalline Cleaning Company was extended, with approval given for the following year followed by two one-year automatic renewal options. The total cost during the 2015-16 fiscal year is $26,035, a 5-percent increase from the current contract. The rate will stay the same for 2016-17 and go up by another 5 percent to $27,300 in 2017-18.• A park alcoholic beverage permit was granted for the Concerts in the Park series held by the city and the Warren County Fine Arts Council. The concerts are scheduled for July 9, Aug. 13 and Sept. 17 at Dyer Park. The request was made by the Warrenton Park Board to help inform attendees that alcohol can be brought the concerts.• Aldermen adopted an industrial pretreatment ordinance that establish regulations and limits on the discharge of waste from local companies. The ordinance is modeled from suggestions made by the Environmental Protection Agency. The new regulations will only affect two businesses — Coca-Cola and Yibo, Inc, a soy sauce company.• A minor code change regulating the size of water mains was approved by a 5-0 vote. Water mains must be a minimum of 8-inch PVC Class 200 pipe. The change was requested by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.• The liquor license applications for 2015-16 were renewed.Meeting scheduled
