City assumes ownership of subdivision lot

Record Managing EditorWright City has assumed ownership of a lot in the Falcons Crest subdivision that was believed to have been transferred to the city several years ago.Officials were recently contacted by a title company alerting them to the mistake. A lift station and booster pump are located on the lot and serve both the Falcons Crest and Timber Trails subdivisions located off Stuermann Road.At the March 12 aldermanic meeting, board members voted unanimously to execute an agreement resolving ownership of the property. It was previously owned by B&M Investments, of St. Peters.Karen Girondo, the city’s economic development director/treasurer, told the board that a bill of sale had been accepted by the city for public improvements in the subdivision. However, it was recently learned that it did not include the lot in question.“We have a bill of sale for water, sewer, the lift station, the booster,” Girondo said. “We have a quitclaim deed for the streets, but Lot W was never included.”In other news• Also at the March 12 meeting, aldermen adopted an ordinance clarifying language related to court costs and failure to appear. The ordinance spells out what the court costs are and mirror those that are recommended by the Office of State Courts Administrator.Aldermen passed the revised ordinance by a 4-0 vote.• No decision has yet to be reached on police vehicle maintenance bids as officials continue to review the submissions. Bids were submitted by I-70 Autosports, Town and Country Garage and Harris Automotive.• The board unanimously approved the hiring of six umpires for the summer baseball and softball leagues. Three of the umpires — Rob Redmond, Michael Holmes and Dylan O’Neal — will be paid $25 a game. The others — Logan Hart, Kyle Bruning and Daniel Liddell — will earn $20 a game.• A vacation carryover request for Lt. Tim Matthews was approved by a 4-0 vote. He will have a 90-day extension to use 32 hours of vacation.The board also approved a training request from Matthews. He will attend the NRA Law Enforcement Firearm Instructor Development School scheduled for Oct. 19-23 in Defiance. The estimated cost is $620.• Aldermen voted 4-0 to allow the police department to enter into a monthly agreement for a new website and email host. The city will pay $36.50 a month for the services. The amount is budgeted, officials said.Wright City
