Community groups in Wright City, Truesdale and Warrenton will begin hosting Christmas events next week.

Kehoe tree lighting

The Wright City community is invited to join in the second annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony in memory of longtime Parks Department Director Kurt Kehoe. The ceremony will be held Dec. 1 in Diekroeger Park at 6:30 p.m., and will see the park fully lit for the Christmas season.

Wright City Christmas Parade

The annual community Christmas parade in Wright City is Thursday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. The parade begins in the downtown area north of the railroad tracks, and will travel to Diekroeger Park. Visitors can enjoy hot chocolate, cookies, s’mores, a bonfire, and a visit with Santa after the parade.

Wright City Santa breakfast

Santa is going to have a busy day on Saturday, Dec. 4, starting the day at a pancake breakfast in the Heiliger Building at Diekroeger Park in Wright City. From 7-9 am adults and kids 11 and up can have breakfast with Santa for $3, while kids 10 and younger eat for free.

Truesdale Community Christmas

The city of Truesdale will hold a community Christmas celebration Dec. 4 at the MaryLou Community Building in Bruer Park. Festivities will go from 3-7 p.m., including a 3-5 p.m. visit from Santa giving away presents for young children. The event will also include kids activities, music and dance entertainment, prize drawings and treats.

There will also be a chili cookoff held at the Christmas event, with entry fees of $10 due the day of the cookoff. Entries need to be ready to eat by 4:30. The cookoff winner will split the entry fees with the Truesdale Shop With a Cop program.

To sample chili and vote, bring a $5 donation for Shop With a Cop or a new toy donation for Toys For Tots.

Warrenton Hometown Christmas

A lighted Christmas parade and other festivities return to downtown Warrenton on Dec. 4 this year, starting with the parade on Main Street at 5:30 p.m.

Pre-registration is required to participate in the parade. Call 314-952-8784 or 636-284-0667 for information about how to register.

A Christmas tree lighting will be held immediately after the parade at the Schowengerdt House on Main Street.
