A Wright City man was arrested Friday, Feb. 24, after he fled on foot from police following an alleged domestic assault, authorities said.Robert L. Mahaney, 48, allegedly choked a woman at his home on Westwood Village Drive in Wright City. The victim told police Mahaney choked her twice. There were visible red marks on the woman’s neck, according to police.Mahaney is charged with second-degree domestic assault and resisting arrest, both felonies. When an officer attempted to place Mahaney in handcuffs, the man reportedly pulled away and fled on foot from the home.Officers chased Mahaney into a grassy area where he fell, police said. When Mahaney attempted to get back up, officers tackled him and held him down.Mahaney allegedly kicked and pushed officers away and continued to flee. Two officers deployed their stun guns, which reportedly were ineffective.They pursued Mahaney to another nearby residence on Westwoods Village Drive, where they arrested him.He is being held at the Warren County Jail on a $20,000 bond. His arraignment is scheduled for March 15 at the Warren County Courthouse.Robert L. Mahaney
