The city of Marthasville has agreed to allow an AT&T communication tower to be built at city hall. The city recently signed a lease agreement that will allow an AT&T subsidiary to build the communication facility in exchange for monthly rent payments of $1,300 to the city government.“This tower won’t only help the citizens of Marthasville, it will help citizens within a 10-mile diameter. It will go out to Concord Hill, Dutzow, the Emmaus valley,” said Marthasville Mayor David Lange. “It will help reception out there ... which is badly needed in this area.”AT&T will lease the property in five year terms, with automatic renewals for 50 years, according to the agreement. The communication tower will be located next to the city hall water tower. If AT&T rents out space on its tower to any third party companies, it will share 30 percent of that income with the city.If the agreement is ever terminated, AT&T is responsible for removing its equipment and restoring the property to its prior condition.City of Marthasville
