Downtown Warrenton again will host the city's annual "Catch the Glow" celebration on Saturday, June 28. Presented by The Downtown Association, the all-day event will include live music, a variety of children's activities, a classic car and motorcycle show, games, food and "fun for the entire family," according to Brenda Sue Fowler, one of the event's coordinators. " 'Catch The Glow' has grown into one of the best attractions in this area," Fowler said. "Every year we have more people come out to attend and they always seem to look forward to our event because we have so many different things to do throughout the day." The event kicks off at 8 a.m. with a 5K run/walk event. Activity shifts into high gear starting at 1 p.m. with the classic car and motorcycle show, featuring some of the area's most unique vintage automobiles and motorcycles. "A lot of people enjoy just looking at the many classic cars and reminiscing about the good old days," Fowler said. The Soap Box Derby will be held from 2-5 p.m. at the west end of Boonslick Road. Live entertainment will start at 4 p.m. with performances by the fife and drum corps and the muny kids. The children's entertainment is also scheduled between 4-8 p.m. with games, prizes and activities. The musical entertainment begins at 3 p.m. with a performance by the Garage Grass Band. Then at 6 p.m., Elvis impersonator Tom Christopher will perform his tribute show to legendary singer Elvis Presley. From 7-9, Mike Schlipp and his band will play. And from 9-11 p.m., Butch Wax and the Hollywoods will provide musical memories from the past. Food vendors will also be positioned around the downtown area with a variety of items ranging from hot dogs and brats to hamburgers and barbecue sandwiches. "We hope everyone will come early, stay late and enjoy all the activities we have planned for them," said Fowler. "Whatever you like to do, whether it's eating, enjoying live music, seeing old cars and just being part of a unique experience, we'll be able to offer it for you at this year's Catch The Glow event," Fowler added.
