Tuesday was the first day for candidates to file for local municipal elections.
Candidates for public office can file for election from now until Jan. 21, 2020. The election is April 7.
The first day of filing saw several new candidates entering their first race for office, along with several incumbents seeking to retain their seats.
City of Warrenton
In filing for Warrenton’s Board of Aldermen, one first-time candidate put his name in the hat on day one.
Joshua Poore, who would be new to city leadership, is seeking election to become the alderman of Warrenton Ward 1. Ward 1 incumbent Mike Shilharvey hadn’t filed by Tuesday.
In Warenton’s Ward 2 and Ward 3, incumbents Scott Schulze and Bob Delaloye were the only candidates to file on the first day.
Warren County R-III School District
Three incumbents on the district’s board of education have filed for re-election. Laurie Wenzel, Rodger Tucker and Franci Schwartz are all seeking new three-year terms.
One term of two years on the board is open due to the death of Allan Dreyer. Two candidates filed on opening day, Sarah Janes and Joseph Lanigan.
City of Wright City
Two people so far have registered to appear on the ballot for Ward 1 alderman. They are Robert Hamlin and Jermaine Johnson.
Alderman John O’Connor, who currently represents Ward 1, had not filed on Tuesday.
In Ward 2, the sole candidate to file on day one was Ramiz Hakim. Ward 2 incumbent Tom Dixon did not file Tuesday.
Current Mayor Dan Rowden was the only candidate to file for the Wright City mayoral election on Tuesday.
Wright City R-II School District
Three seats on the school district’s board of education will be elected in April. No candidates registered on the first day of filing.
Wright City Fire Protection District
One seat on the district’s board of directors is up for a six-year term. Incumbent Jeanette Woehrle was the only candidate to register on the first day.
City of Marthasville
No candiates filed on opening day for two seats on the board of aldermen.
Marthasville Fire Protection District
One seat for a six-year term is up for election in the Marthasville Fire Protection District. A representative said no filing was received as of Tuesday afternoon.
City of Truesdale
Two seats on the city’s board of aldermen are up for election. Incumbent Mike Thomas has filed to retain his seat, the only candidate to register on Tuesday. Fellow Alderman Stanley Brookshier had not filed for reelection by Tuesday.
Village of Innsbrook
No candidates registered on the initial day of filing for two positions on the Village Board of Trustees.
Warren County Ambulance District
Diane Grimes was the only candidate who registered Tuesday to run for the ambulance district's board of directors. Two board seats are up for election.
Marthasville Community Ambulance District
There were no candidate filings Tuesday for two seats on the Marthasville ambulance district's board of directors.
Warren County Emergency Services Board
There were no filings Tuesday for four seats on the Warren County Emergency Services Board, which controls the county’s 911 dispatch.
