Record Managing EditorCampers and other vacation-type vehicles may be restricted from parking on Warrenton city streets for extended periods.Aldermen are expected to consider whether or not to impose time limits for parking recreational or vacation vehicles at a future meeting.Some preliminary discussion held at last Tuesday’s board of aldermen meeting suggested that 24 hours was long enough to allow residents to load or unload their camper when parked on a street.In August, Warrenton resident Don Broering spoke to the board about a camper that had been parked for a long time on a street in the Northwoods subdivision. He raised concerns about traffic congestion and the potential for children playing in the area to be hidden should they run into the street in front of a motorist.Currently, campers are prohibited from being parked in a driveway, but are allowed in the side yard or backyard of a property.In other news• An ordinance amending fence regulations was adopted by a 6-0 vote. Under the new regulations, a fence shall not extend beyond the established front building line nor shall any fence extend beyond the interior side lot line and rear lot lines on a corner lot. In addition, no fence is allowed in a street right of way and a fence is not permitted within the required site distance area on an exterior lot line.• A replacement grinder for the Fairlane lift station will cost $21,601. The bid was awarded to JWC Environmental and approved by a 6-0 vote. A second bid, for $28,300 from Franklin Miller, was also received.• The public works department will overlay two parking areas at Well No. 7 and Well No. 8 at a total cost of $9,032. The projects were approved by a 6-0 vote. The city had budgeted $9,100 for the work.• The city will spend $20,806 to purchase a 2015 Ford cargo van from Joe Machens Ford, which holds the state contract. It was the lone bid. The city had $21,000 budgeted for the van.• Cheryl Dyer was appointed to the park board and will serve a three-year term. The appointment, proposed by Mayor Eric Schleuter, was unanimously approved.• The city agreed to sign a proclamation designating Nov. 14-21 as Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week and to allow Agape to hang orange banners on the city’s streetlights as part of Paint the Town Orange Week.• Cater liquor licenses for the Fall Festival on Sept. 26 were approved for the Warren County Fair Board, Ron’s Family Restaurant, Holy Rosary, El Jimador and the city.• Approval was given to close portions of Vosholl Avenue, Kuhl Street and Pinckney Street from 11:45 a.m.-2 p.m. for the Warrenton High School Homecoming parade on Friday, Oct. 2.• A special event permit was issued to allow the Warren County Fair Association to host a mud run on Sept. 19.• Bids for two trackloader buckets were awarded to Bobcat for $2,007.58 and for a backhoe bucket to Erb Equipment Company for $950. The bids were the lone ones received by the city. It had $3,000 budgeted for the expenditures.• The board approved spending $731 for a concrete pad to be poured at the police department’s shooting range.Warrenton
