By Tim SchmidtRecord Managing EditorTwo men accused of burglarizing homes in Warren County this summer to fuel their drug addictions are facing local charges. The suspects, 36-year-old Kevin Chandler, of the 2000 block of Southmoor Drive in Foristell, and 38-year-old Gary Moore, St. Louis, were charged last week with two felony counts of second-degree burglary and stealing. These are the first charges to be filed in Warren County following the arrest of both men in October. They are facing similar criminal charges in St. Charles and St. Louis counties, according to online court records.Chandler and Moore are responsible for committing dozens of burglaries in a five-county area and are believed to have stolen more than $80,000 in firearms, electronics, jewelry, hunting equipment and vehicles since July, authorities reported. The men are suspects in burglaries at two Warren County homes, one located on Highway O outside of Marthasville on July 4 and the other on Highway 94 outside of Dutzow on Oct. 5.In both cases, the suspects filled pillowcases with items such as jewelry and money from both homes, according to the probable cause statement. They also allegedly stole multiple guns from one of the residences. The estimated value of the items stolen from the homes was approximately $3,300, Warren County deputies said. The guns were later found in a pond at Chandler’s residence. He told a detective with the St. Charles County Police Department he threw them in the pool after he was unable to get rid of them, according to the probable cause statement. The suspects targeted homes primarily in southeastern Warren County and southwestern St. Charles County. They are believed to have been responsible for at least six burglaries in Warren County, authorities previously reported.Besides Warren, St. Charles and St. Louis counties, the men burglarized homes and businesses in St. Louis city, Lincoln and Jefferson counties.Sheriff Kevin Harrison previously said the suspects were identified thanks to tips from property owners noticing suspicious vehicles in the area.
