BREAKING: Flood watch in Warren County

Posted

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch throughout central and southern Missouri, including Warren County and neighboring counties.A flash flood watch means conditions are right for water to quickly overflow the banks of creeks and streams throughout the area. The alert is in effect from Friday evening until Sunday evening as heavy storms pass through the area."Rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches over the past 24 hours have set the stage for a significant flooding event this weekend," according to the National Weather Service. "Heavy rainfall will result in flooding of low lying or poor-drainage areas and ultimately dangerous flash flooding on smaller creeks and streams. Significant rises on larger streams and rivers will also be possible."People in flood-prone areas should take precautions against flooding and stay informed about flood conditions. If flooding is happening, those nearby should move to higher ground and never drive through flooded roads.Street FloodingKSwinicki
