A Warrenton man was arrested Saturday for attacking a woman, threatening to stab a person and breaking into a home.

Donald R. Adams, 39, is charged in Warren County Associate Circuit Court with first-degree burglary, third-degree domestic assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

The felony charges could mean a prison sentence of five or more years if Adams is convicted.

Adams intercepted a woman he’d had a relationship with while she was picking up a friend on Lilac Circle in Warrenton Nov. 18. According to the Warren County Sheriff’s Department, Adams was “enraged” the woman had not brought his personal items from her residence.

He allegedly pulled the woman from the vehicle and wrestled her to the ground. He is accused of striking her and hitting her head onto cement, before pushing her back into the vehicle and telling her to leave.

The victim and her friend drove to a nearby park. Adams followed them and got into the vehicle. He displayed a knife and threatened to stab the occupants of the vehicle, the victim told authorities.

Adams demanded to be driven to the victim’s residence so he could retrieve his items, continuing to hit her while she drove the vehicle, authorities said. At one point he allegedly began to choke her.

After reaching the victim’s residence in New Truxton, the victim ran inside and locked the door. Adams reportedly kicked the door in, but was stopped inside by the victim’s father, who had a gun.

Adams is being held at the Warren County Jail in lieu of a $45,000 bond. He has an arraignment scheduled for Nov. 29 at the Warren County Circuit Court.
